Helping Hands

As stated in the March/April 2009 Newsletter, many of our homeowners have skills or can offer services that could help other homeowners. A homeowner suggested that if some of these skilled homeowners would be willing to share their skills or services, whether for a fee, for free or for trade, we could put a list on our Website. The only requirement is that the service has to be provided by a homeowner, not a friend or relative of a homeowner. Neither the Board nor the Association are "recommending" these people. They are just providing a place, our Website, to list these services. It is the homeowner's responsibility to check references, any licensing/bonding requirements and any fees/charges. Of course, any outside work still requires approval by the Architectural Review Committee.

Emergency Light Switch: Help Emergency Responders Find your Home

My name is Gerard Dupczak and I recently found a product that the homeowners in Briar Cove might find useful. The Emergency Light Switch has three positions: on, off and flashing. You simply replace the standard front outside light switch with the Emergency Light Switch. If you need to dial 911 for help you can tell the operator to look for the flashing outside lights. The switch installs easily, usually in less than 10 minutes. No special wiring is required. The switch is not sold at Home Depot, Menards or Lowes. I found a supply online and have a few available for $10. If you are not comfortable working with electricity, I can install the switch for you for $20 complete (switch and install).
